SD Online Advanced Placement Program

Providing advanced placement opportunities in math, science and English to high school students across South Dakota. Students can choose from the following: AP Calculus AB, AP English Literature and Composition, AP English Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Physics B, AP Statistics and AP Chemistry. MN/SD Recipiprocity Information

The Minnesota-South Dakota Tuition Reciprocity Program allows South Dakota residents to attend public post-secondary institutions in Minnesota at rates below those charged other non-residents. South Dakota residents planning to attend one of the University of Minnesota institutions next year must apply to the Board of Regents for reciprocity status. Dual Credit at Reduced Cost

Dual credit is an opportunity for high school students to enroll in postsecondary institutions in South Dakota while earning credits for both their high school diploma and postsecondary degree or certificate at the same time. 

 

 

ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)

All HS juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) program. This opportunity is available at no cost and cane be used as a measure of career readiness in the School Performance Index (SPI). The NCRC is an industry-recognized, portable credential certifying essential skills needed in the workplace success. To earn certification, students must attain at least the lowest certifcation level on three ACT WorkKeys assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information. Internship Opportunities for HS Students in STEM, Accounting and Manufacturing

The Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) recently announced an expansion to the Dakota Seeds Internship program. Juniors and seniors with career interests in STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) fields, accounting and manufacturing may now seek internships for their Youth Internship Capstone Experiences with eligible employers across South Dakota. The eligible employers can hire 11th and 12th grade students and receive financial assistance covering one-half of wage expenses, up to a maximum of $2,000. BIG IDEA Competition

South Dakota's BIG Idea Competition offers students nearly $5,000 in cash and scholarships. This free online competition promotes entrepreneurship by allowing students to describe a business idea and, if they choose, create a logo and an ad to promote their business idea. Our primary goal is to expose students to entrepreneurship, spur innovative thinking, and encourage them to consider the possibility of creating a business in the future. ASSE:  International Student Exchange Program and 

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange

Funded by the U.S. State Department, the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) offers full scholarships for high school students who seek to immerse themselves in German culture by living with a host family and attending a local high school. As a participant, your exchange year would include: 1) Placement with a carefully selected German host family; 2) Admission to a German high school; 3) Pre-departure training in the United States and orientation programs in Germany; 4) Meetings with government officials; 5) Cultural excursions to the German Bundestag and select German cities; and 6) Supplemental language lessons upon arrival in Germany. NSU / SD Education Access Foundation College Prep Classes - FREE!

Northern State University and the South Dakota Education Access Foundation (SDEAF) are teaming up to launch a new, free program for students who need extra help with English, math and reading. SDEAF will provide eligible students who place for preparatory English, math and/or reading with tuition and textbooks for enrollment in NSU's ENGL 033, MATH 095 and/or READ 041. These NSU courses will fulfill high school course requirements and prepare the student for college level English and Math in the SD Board of Regents system. Admission to the CPP is limited to 100 participants per semester - students should apply right away! See Ms. Kaaz for for information. 

YBA

The Beacom School of Business at USD will be hosting Youth Business Adventure in the summer of 2019. This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers and counselors to get a better understanding of the business world, as well as high school junior and sophomore students to explore business careers. Summer Accounting Institute

The Summer Accounting Institute will be held during the summer of 2019. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the dynamic accounting profession and earn college credit! Students will get to learn from USD accounting faculty, employers that hire accounting rads, and other students with similar academic interests. The ideal intern must be highly motivated, creative, extremely well organized, possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, pay meticulous attention to detail, be able to independently juggle competing priorities in a dynamic and demanding environment, adhere to strict deadlines, and have a strong interest in Republican electoral politics. Job may include organizing precinct walks, phone banks, training volunteers, attending parades and setting up political events throughout the state. Part-time and Full-time positions available.
